Verona

After the stormy days we spent in Venice, Verona was a welcome, sunny, sight. We stayed in a cute little B&B where we met a San Franciscan who was starting out his biking/camping adventure. It’s weird to remember back at the beginning of our journey meeting travelers ending their trips and we would pick their brains as the wide-eyed newbies we were. How times have changed! This time we got to be the travel veterans.

It’s not hard to imagine Romeo and Juliet being set in Verona, the city is gorgeous. We spent our one solid day there wandering around in the sunshine. We visited Guilietta’s (Juliet’s) balcony where people leave love letters in the walls and there is a statue of Guilietta where tourists line up to take pictures of themselves touching her right breast (it’s said to be good luck…) and of course there is a the fabled balcony that it is said Romeo wooed her.

We visited the old Roman Theatre, and climbed to the top of a hill where we watched the sunset behind the turrets of lovely Verona.

And of course we ate gelato.
